Usain Bolt sustained an injury in his final race, giving Great Britain their first World Championship 4x 100m relay gold.
Championship favourites, USA, were made to trail behind as Britain ran a record time of 37.47 seconds.
Bolt suffered his injury with the baton in his hand and in third position, just as he was about to accelerate, bringing his extraordinary career to a solemn end.
Bolt strained the calf of his left leg which threw him off balance and unto the track where he lay motionless for a while as medics came to his aid. But he showed resilience as he hopped up and limped to the finish line with the crowd cheering behind him.
The fastest man in the world was previously beaten to the surprise of spectators in the 100m, taking bronze.
Jamaica, have won the previous four world championships, but this time it was Great Britain that took gold ahead of USA.
The 11 world and 8 Olympic gold medalist would be fulfilled to put to an end what was a beautiful career.
